Seedling
Mission
The purpose of the Seedling Theatre Workshop Production company is to
educate children in creative dramatics, music, and creative movement
through workshops, classes, showcase presentations and formal
productions. By learning these skills, children will enhance and
stimulate their cognitive and creative abilities in order to help them
reach their own personal potential.
Seedling Theatre's Artistic
Director
Donna
Anhalt
joined the Illinois Theatre Consortium as Seedling Theatre artistic
director in 2007. Her association with ITC began as an actor
in
the 2002 Discovery Walk. She became Associate
Producer-Director of the Discovery Walk, assisting and supporting the
work of Judy Brown, Director-Producer of the Walk and Artistic Director
of the Illinois Voices Theatre.
Donna has always
loved theatre and has been a
part of just about every one in Bloomington – Community Players,
Heartland
Theatre, Prairie Fire, ISU theatre, as well as the Holiday Spectacular
and
historic interpretations at the David Davis Mansion. Most recently, she directed Annie
in Bloomington-Normal for the Penguin Project, which was founded in
Peoria. Penguin Project performaces are modified Broadway
musicals in which children with disabilities are paired with same-age
peer mentors who support them throughout rehearsal and performance.
Donna
is developing theatre projects and performances by and for children on
stage and in summer workshops. She hopes her love of children
and
love of
theatre will blend into offering even more theatre opportunities for
young people in McLean County.
